Personal projects
Personal Website
https://ashmaansohail.com/It's my website! I am currently revamping the project section, so it may seem a bit dispersed.
QWeb Booking Website
https://github.com/Ashmaan-2006/Qweb-DevCurrently developing a fire website for Queen's Web Development Club that allows users to create events and let the participants choose their availability dynamically. The website will be used as main basis of event planning for over 200 students!
BrailleBridge
https://github.com/Ashmaan-2006/BrailleBridgeAn app I built for the James Dyson Award! It translates Grade 2 Braille to text and vice versa. It uses Apple’s Vision and AVFoundation frameworks to perform OCR on images and convert detected text into Braille, enabling seamless two-way communication for the deafblind.
MapleLens
https://github.com/Ashmaan-2006/MapleLensMapleLens is an app my partner and I built for GenAI Genesis, Canada’s largest AI hackathon. It identifies U.S. products from images using the Google Cloud Vision API and suggests Canadian alternatives to promote smarter, tariff-aware shopping. The frontend was built in Flutter (Dart) with camera access, image compression, and HTTP networking. The backend, built with Python (FastAPI) and hosted on Vercel, uses RapidFuzz for product matching and supports vendor-submitted alternatives to grow the local product database.
